After more than a year of isolation, a meal with Mom might be just the thing this Mother’s Day, and May 9th is creeping up fast. If you’re planning on being in or around the Heights for Mother’s Day weekend, you’ve got plenty of options – and delicious ones, at that!
Harold’s Restaurant and Tap Room
Harold’s on historic 19th Street is always a local favorite for Mother’s Day brunch. If you or your mother aren’t interested in brunch, though, stop in later for lunch or dinner. Harold’s has amazing fries, and you can’t go wrong with a Shrimp Po’Boy. You might even take things up a notch with their 1855 Ribeye or Beer Battered Fish. Top things off with some Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie, and you and Mom will both go home with full bellies and big smiles!
You can also order to-go classics for the whole family, including main courses like Southern Fried Chicken, Lamb Chops, and Mama Mia Lasagna.
Shandy’s Heights
If you haven’t been to the new Shandy’s at 315 West 19th Street, you’re in for a treat. Start off with a tasty appetizer like Shrimp Campeche and enjoy a sandwich, burger, soup, salad, pasta, or any of Shandy’s other delicious meals. Our favorite is the Grilled Chicken Sandwich topped with cheddar cheese and bacon. Yum!
Federal American Grill
Just south of the Heights on 510 Shepherd Drive, Federal American Grill has a menu a mile long. From novelties like Fried Cheeseburger Eggrolls and Kung Pao Calamari to classics like Blueberry and Cinnamon Pancakes, Federal American Grill appeals to any brunch-lovers’ tastes. If you’d prefer to visit in the afternoon or evening, you can’t miss the oysters here.
Snooze, an A.M. Eatery
Make Mom feel special with brunch from one of the Heights’ most popular breakfast joints! Located at 718 West 18th Street, Snooze caters to everyone’s tastes. Foodies have favorites like the Bravocado Toast, Lox-n-Latke Benny, Funky Monkey French Toast, Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, Huevos Tostadas, and so much more to look forward to. Guests can also sip on an Irish Coffee, Spicy Bloody Mary, or any variety of other alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Since there are two other locations (on Westheimer Road and Montrose Boulevard), this is a great option for those who live outside the Heights.
To all the moms out there, we hope you have a fabulous day! You deserve time to kick back, sip a mimosa, and chill. If we see you in the Heights, stop and say hello!
