The Texas Contemporary Art Fair will be held at the George R. Brown convention center from October 10-13, starting with a kick-off party and preview on the 10th. The event will feature presentations from 70 galleries showcasing contemporary works by innovative artists from all over the world. Many of the galleries presenting at the art fair are local Houston establishments, but there will also be dozens of world-class galleries from New York to LA to Tokyo in the house. One day tickets are $20 with discounts for students and seniors, and entry to the preview party will run you $100 but offers complimentary wine, beer, champagne, and food, in addition to priority access to the exhibitions and VIP lounge access. Proceeds from the preview benefit the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston. If you don’t expect to be able to take it all in at one go, multi-day tickets are available for a discounted over the single admission rate. A best in show cash prize of $10,000 will be awarded to one exhibitor-nominated artist who explores new planes in contemporary art.
