Houston’s Newest Park: Trebly Park

Red Bicycle at a Park

If you’ve noticed a cleared lot sandwiched between Fannin, San Jacinto, Bell, and Leland streets, we’ve got good news for you: a new park is coming to East Downtown Houston. With the influx of new residents to this neighborhood, there has been a growing need for a greenspace where community members can go to relax or stay active outdoors. Here’s what to expect from Trebly Park, slated to open in March 2022. We hope you’re as excited as we are!

An Event Lawn With Tranquil Outdoor Seating

The event lawn at Trebly Park promises a grassy spot where the community can gather to celebrate local artists, musicians, artisans, local small businesses, and more. The stage ought to attract performers of all kinds! In addition, the park will feature a dedicated spot for temporary art installations. A gateway art installation by German artists Thomas Granseuer and Tomislav Topic of Quintessenz and the whimsical playscape by art duo Chiaozza are sure to please art aficionados.

Once Trebly Park is open to the public, the Downtown District will manage it in a fashion similar to the way Market Square Park is operated. That greenspace has always drawn a ton of music, movies, art events, and other entertainment. Officials have said that they aim to triple down on efforts to make Trebly Park a cool hangout spot, so this is sure to be a very lively place!

Let the Dogs Run

Depending on where you live in Houston, it can be hard to find a good place for Fido to stretch his legs. With the rising population in EaDo, a new dog park is more than welcome. Trebly Park will feature dog runs for both large and small canines – a definite must-have for any city dog. It will also be a great spot for dog owners to mingle and prattle on about their precious pups.

Enjoy the Food or a Cup of Coffee at Tout Suite

Tout Suite is one of EaDo’s most highly-rated coffeehouses. Not only can you grab an amazing cup of coffee, wine, or craft beer here, but they serve great food too. Order breakfast or lunch, curb your hunger with a tasty appetizer, or try one of their famous açai smoothies or bowls. This will be Tout Suite’s second location, and there’s no way it won’t become an area hotspot.

It’s All in the Name

Why “Trebly Park” and not some other name, you ask? Well, there was one other name tossed around. Officials considered naming the greenspace “Goodyear Park” after the old Goodyear building that was once situated on the lot, but the name didn’t quite stick. “Trebly” is a play on words (three is “tres” in Latin) since the L-shaped park has three corners. Many of its visitors will also be locals who hang out at home or in their high-rise’s indoor community center; Trebly Park provides a third hangout space.

Trebly Park also promises three times as much fun and interaction compared to other similar local parks. We’re ready and marking our calendars for March 2022!
