If you’re a fan of The Amazing Race but your audition tape didn’t get picked (or your mean old boss won’t let you have several weeks off to compete), take heart! Houston will be hosting our very own local version this Saturday, March 22. The race kicks off at Celtic Gardens at 2300 Louisiana Street in Midtown, where competitors will be given a list of twelve cryptic clues to start their quest.
Teams can register in advance by Friday evening for a discount rate of $60 or for $75 the day of the race. Contestants will need a pen or pencil, bag to hold items collected during the race, digital camera or smartphone, a signed participation waiver, and extra cash for incidental expenses. Each team must consist of 2-4 people. The course is designed so that the winners will complete it in about 1.5 hours, and others will generally finish in 3-4. Tasks may include physical challenges, puzzles, brain teasers, and interactions with the public. The surprise is part of the fun, so nobody will know what the race entails until clues are distributed.
