45th Annual Bayou City Art Festival

45th Annual Bayou City Art Festival

This weekend marks the 45th annual Bayou City Art Festival, taking place at Memorial Park. More than 350 visual and performing artists from around the world will be featured at the festival. The always-busy Memorial Park jogging trail will be turned into an art gallery over a mile long, with attractions to entertain and educate the entire family.

A special Creative Zone for kids will allow those the younger generation to get involved even if they are a bit on the small side to appreciate some of the other exhibits. The festival features art work from 19 different mediums, including glass, wood, photography, mixed media, leather, sculpture and more. April Murphy, best known for her colorful, animal-centric paintings, will be this year’s featured artist.

Many popular local food trucks will be on-site, and beer and wine will be available at the festival bar for patrons to sip while listening to live music. To top it all off, 100% of the proceeds go back to the community to benefit local non-profits. In past years, the Bayou City Art Festival has raised over 35 million dollars for worthy local non-profit organizations.

Admission is $15 in advance for adults ($17 at the gate) and there are shuttles available from Northwest Mall on Hempstead Road to help ease parking difficulties. Uber will be offering free rides for first-time Uber users, too. On site parking will not be available at the park. The event lasts from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm on April 29 and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on April 30 – May 1.
