Vibrant Nightlife Along 19th & 20th Streets

Toasting In The Heights

Houston has always been known as a hub for excellent nightlife and restaurants. Many of these spots just happen to be in the Heights! The next time you want to enjoy a night out, keep these locations in mind.

19th Street

Wicklow Heights

A new dog-friendly patio and cocktail bar in the Heights? No complaints here! Wicklow Heights at 1027 West 19th Street is a relaxing place to sip on a smooth beer and grab a bite to eat with friends. Steak Night Wednesdays are particularly popular here, but come early before the steaks sell out! The bar recently introduced a new food truck, Wicklow Bites, to ramp up its offerings, so keep an eye out for it the next time you’re in the area.

Often described as “having a TV in every corner,” this establishment is a great place to go to catch a sports game. The cocktails are also out of this world. If you visit in the summer, it’s worth knowing that the backyard patio has outdoor fans to help cool things down.

Moonshine Deck

New to the Heights, Moonshine Deck is Houston’s very first pour-your-own establishment, and it serves some great food too! Enjoy creative cocktails, a sizable selection of wine and beer, and appetizers and entrees that seriously impress. Pulled pork tacos, smoked brisket sliders, and Philly cheesesteak are just a few of the standouts. On Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM, you can even grab brunch at Moonshine Deck! Choose from traditional favorites like French toast, biscuits and gravy, or avocado and egg toast, or try something a little bit different, like the brisket benedict.

The location provides a sprawling garden patio with twinkling lights and a wrap-around deck perfect for those days you’d rather take in some fresh air. Take advantage of a variety of seating options including high bar tables, booths, and swings. If you love a good game night, it’s worth knowing that Moonshine Deck hosts both bingo and trivia nights. Be sure to brush up on your factoids! You can even listen to some music while you play toss games.

The Boot

This long-time Heights establishment always hits the spot! Located at 1206 West 20th Street, the Boot delights with its delectable Cajun menu. This is a fun place to visit with friends and family to try – and maybe even share – new dishes. The gator bites and buffalo wings taste incredible, and you can’t miss out on the shrimp or catfish po-boys. The owners, Louisiana natives, know how to season seafood to bring out all of the delicious flavors. That’s why this is a popular spot for seafood fans – especially crawfish lovers! The Boot also offers the perfect-sized portions, which is a must when it comes to food this good.

The restaurant also provides outdoor seating on its covered patio, making it a nice place to hang out outdoors and listen to the occasional live music. Bonus: The patio has misters to keep you cool!

McIntyre’s

This energetic indoor-outdoor tavern attracts visitors all across Houston and beyond. McIntyre’s offers a unique experience loaded with fun for all adults age 23 and older. Watch a game on one of its 40 high-definition TVs, and choose from over 50 beers, hand-picked wines, specialty cocktails, and an exclusive selection of whiskey and scotch. The expansive patio is dog-friendly with both covered and open-air seating. Two large areas are equipped with the bar’s signature swings, a popular highlight of the location. One of the best things about McIntyre’s is its rotation of acclaimed food trucks. Never feel stuck choosing from the same old meals again! This is also an awesome venue to host a party or work event at.

Visitors should note that the bar is cashless, so don’t forget to bring an alternative form of payment. Head on over to 1230 West 20th Street to check McIntyre’s out.

On 1034 West 20th Street, you’ll find Cedar Creek Bar and Grill, a laid-back Houston Heights favorite. It’s hard to find a more scenic location than this since the restaurant is situated along a bubbling creek. The view is one of the reasons why the outdoor patio is so popular!

At this restaurant, beer lovers enjoy the fact that they can get 25 beers on tap, and the frozen alcoholic drinks are popular as well. If you’re more interested in the food, the menu covers a lot of ground with selections like burgers, tacos, wings, sandwiches, and quesadillas. There’s even a kids’ menu! The restaurant has also been serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays since 2007. With nearly 2,500 Google reviews citing the family atmosphere, beautiful location, and dog-friendly patio, this location is certainly a Heights hotspot with a lot to offer visitors of all ages.

Drift

Oh, the dozens of drinks you can order at Drift! Located at 1207 West 20th Street, Drift is a newcomer to the block, but it already boasts hundreds of rave reviews. The bar is spacious, and it’s a great place to catch an Astros game on one of their TVs. The location is known for its island vibes and Southern charm, and customers love that they can bring their pup if they’d like.
