Sushi Take-Out in the Heights

Hunkering down without our favorite foods during the COVID-19 pandemic can be a real drag. Luckily, there are still many places to grab your fix at. If sushi is your jam, we’ve got a great list of restaurants that offer to-go, so you can put away those pots and pans and enjoy a nice meal at home.

Uchi

Uchi got super creative this year and turned their valet line into a curbside pickup drive-thru. To order food, make a reservation to pick up between 4 PM and 10 PM. An Uchi employee will call after 2 PM on the day of your reservation to collect payment information, and that’s it! Do be aware that for safety and quality, the restaurant has a limited curbside menu, but there’s still plenty to choose from. Uchi also currently offers a dine-in option, but be sure to double-check on this before leaving the house.

Hando

Hando’s $20 2-course takeout lunch special for Houston Restaurant Week

Hand-rolled sushi? Yes, please. Hando’s Instagram page is enough to make any sushi-lover drool, so it’s a good thing they’re a phone call away. The restaurant is also open with limited dine-in capacity. We recommend getting a sake juice box, if not for the sake, then for the novelty. Hando is also participating in Houston Restaurant Week this year, so be sure to check on deals if you happen to order food before the event ends on September 7th.

Kokoro

Started by two former Uchi chefs, Kokoro offers up some of the freshest sushi in the Heights. You can order beer, wine, or sake to go, and the restaurant will even deliver straight to your door. Pretty cool, right? The restaurant currently offers limited dine-in seating, so be sure to give the restaurant a call if you’d like to eat there.

Roka Akor

Certified wagyu beef from a Japanese steakhouse sounds like the right way to end a long week. We know we started this blog talking about sushi, but if you order from Roka Akor, the beef is definitely worth trying. The restaurant offers takeout and delivery between 4:30 PM and 9:30 PM and is closed on Mondays. You can also dine in by reservation from 4:30 to 10:30 PM. With nearly 100 5-star Yelp reviews, Roka Akor truly is a local favorite, and there’s no doubt why!

Wherever you go for your sushi or Japanese takeout, we hope you love it. You deserve to sit back and enjoy a tasty meal!
