Run the BLVD Fun Run

If you haven’t already registered, it’s not too late to sign up for the 31st Annual Heights “Run the BLVD” Fun Run, which will be held on June 4. The route takes runners along a scenic section of Heights Boulevard, in a quick out-and-back track which starts and ends at Marmion Park on Heights and 18th Street. The event includes an adult 5k, a 5k walk, and an untimed 1K run for children. Proceeds from race registration fees go to benefit the Houston Heights Association’s many community projects.

If you’ve already signed up, don’t forget to pick up your race packet at Luke’s Locker on West Gray, June 2-3, or before the race at the park, bright and early in the morning on June 4 when registration opens at 6:15. Each person registered will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a race bib with a disposable chip tracker to monitor their completion time. Awards will be given to the top 3 men and women in each of the following age categories: Under 14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-75, 75+. All children racing in the kid’s 1K will receive an award.

Registration fees for last-minute applicants increase after June 1, so be sure to sign up by the end of this month to pay the lower registration rate. During the month of May, registration will be $25 for adults and $15 for children, and as of June 1, rates increase to $30 and $20, respectively. To sign up, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/houston/HoustonHeights5KRun. The race will start at 7:30 a.m. on June 4, and ends with an awards ceremony at 9:00 a.m.
