Houston-Area Restaurants Open on Thanksgiving 2019

Thanksgiving is upon us! Whether you just moved and haven’t unpacked your kitchen stuff yet, you happen to be the kind of cook who can burn water, or you just don’t feel like cooking this Thanksgiving, there are several restaurants in the Heights that have got you covered. Check out our list of Houston restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day, where you can choose from the traditional turkey-and-trimmings Thanksgiving feast or venture out and try something totally different. Grilled tofu, anyone? Either way, you won’t have to do dishes, and that sounds like a happy holiday to us!

The Rainbow Lodge

If you’re looking for something a little different than the traditional turkey and sweet potatoes, look no further than Rainbow Lodge. In addition to traditional Thanksgiving foods, the menu offers more variety than other Thanksgiving dining options. Entrees include rainbow trout sautéed with pecan brown butter, wild game duo, and beef or buffalo tenderloin, in addition to the traditional turkey with dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. They’ll also be serving Thanksgiving “snack packs” to go in the evening at a bargain price of $5, which include just enough turkey, dressing, and gravy for a sandwich. The Thanksgiving menu costs $60 per person for three courses. Reservations are highly recommended. Rainbow Lodge is located 2011 Ella and will be open 11:30am to 7:30 pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Federal American Grill

Open from 11:00am to 3:00pm, the Federal American Grill will offer a Thanksgiving menu of turkey or ham with all the traditional trimmings, including pumpkin or pecan pie for dessert. You can also choose from salmon, chicken, or beef short ribs if you aren’t in the mood for the standard Thanksgiving fare. Adults receive the full three-course meal for $48 and kids under 12 eat for $15. A 20% gratuity will be added to all checks to make working over a holiday worth the staff’s while. If you’re looking for takeout, you can get a full holiday meal for 2, including sides and dessert, for $48 to-go. You’ll need to order takeout 24 hours in advance, and reservations are a good idea if you plan to dine in. Federal Grill is located at 510 Shepherd Drive.

B&B Butchers

B&B will be open from 10:00am to 8:00pm, serving items from their regular dinner menu and a special holiday four-course prix fixe menu. The prix fixe option will run you $68 for adults and $25 for kids under 12. The Thanksgiving menu includes an amuse bouche, choice of butternut squash soup or salad, prime rib or turkey, four vegetable sides, and a dessert. You can also pick up traditional Thanksgiving dishes to go if you prefer to eat at home. B&B Butchers is located at 1814 Washington Ave.

The Classic

A new addition to the local Thanksgiving day dining options, The Classic offers a three course menu that includes traditional Thanksgiving fare as well as more surprising dishes like grilled tofu with smoked mushroom gravy, warm spinach and frissee salad, and apple kugel. The prix fixe menu will run you $45 per person, not including gratuity or beverages, and reservations are recommended. The Classic is open from 10:00 – 4:00 and is located at 5922 Washington.

Pappas Bar-B-Q

Looking for a Thanksgiving meal out that’s a little more budget-friendly? Pappas Bar-B-Q has you covered. For $15.95 you’ll get smoked turkey, ham, cornbread stuffing, yams, green beans, rolls, and cranberry sauce. Can’t beat that deal! You can also pick up individual dishes in larger quantities or catering dishes to serve to a crowd at home. All 15 Houston area Pappas Bar-B-Q locations will be open for Thanksgiving, as well as several other Pappas concepts including Pappasito’s and Pappadeaux.
