New Developments Coming to 19th Street in the Heights

19th Street in the Heights will be gaining a new neighbor! The vacant lot at 317 W. 19th Street has been cleared of the junk and rubble that’s occupied the space for years. The 6,600 square foot lot that sits between Maryam’s Cafe and Manready Mercantile and was purchased in February by an entity connected to Maryam’s Cafe.

The Exterior

The proposed structure to fill the lot would sit right up to the property line and feature paneled windows, similar to Manready Mercantile’s storefront, for a cohesive appearance. The building would feature a second story overhang that would allow space on the ground level for bike parking and window shopping.

Planning Commission

Plans for the new building were brought before the planning commission for approval earlier this week. According to the minutes from the Houston Planning Commission, the result was defer applicants for two weeks for additional information. There’s been no announcement yet as to what kind of business the new structure will house, but we’re eager to hear more and welcome the new kids on the block.
