Discover 2021’s Soothing Color Trends

Two of the biggest names in paint just came out with their “colors of the year” for 2021, and after the constant chaos of this year, it’s no surprise that the shades predicted to dominate in 2021 are soothing, tranquil tones meant to instill calm. Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends Palette includes a range of shades you’d see at the beach, from a muted aqua shade called Aegean Teal to neutrals that bring to mind sand and driftwood.

Sherwin Williams also opted for nature-inspired tones in their Colormix Forecast, anchored by Urbane Bronze, an earthy but sophisticated neutral that would pair well with a wide variety of accent shades.

With all the uncertainty and stress in the world right now, we love the idea of bringing in zen-inducing shades to keep our homes a peaceful oasis. As a general rule, we don’t redecorate every year to keep up with the trends, but we are a little obsessed with Aegean Teal and have big plans for at least one accent wall. It’s always a safe bet to test drive trendy colors in small doses and not go too crazy right away. Remember when “Millennial Pink” was EVERYWHERE for about fifteen minutes? Start with something like a colorful throw blanket or toss pillows for the couch, a vase, or maybe an accent table. If you find yourself really loving it, then take it a step further with a larger paint job.
