COVID-19 Testing Locations Throughout the Heights

We’re all trying to do our part to contain the COVID-19 pandemic so we can get things back to normal as soon as possible, and part of that is making sure that testing is easily accessible for anyone who suspects they have COVID or has been exposed. Luckily, there are plenty of places in the Heights to get a test quickly and easily, and in some cases, without even leaving your car.

CareNow Urgent Care at 102 W. 11th Street is performing tests daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or later – appointment required.

The Heights Emergency Room at 101 N. Loop W. Suite 300 is open 24 hours a day and does not require a referral or appointment.

Drive-through testing is being performed by appointment only at the CVS locations at 4314 N. Freeway and 4150 N. Shepherd, during pharmacy operation hours.

A drive-through testing location is open in the Yale St. Wal-Mart parking lot Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7 – 9 a.m. Appointments are required.

Most physicians and urgent care centers have testing available. Call your provider to confirm what safety procedures are in place to prevent potential COVID patients from spreading the virus to others while getting tested. There’s a good chance your doctor will want you to do something other than walk in the front door if you suspect you have COVID.

If you have health insurance, testing will be covered at no cost by your insurer, even on a high-deductible plan when you haven’t met the deductible yet. Most insurance plans require a doctor’s orders to pay for the test, but that’s easy to get over the phone if you’re experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 or learn someone you’ve been in contact with has tested positive. Basically, if you have any good reason to suspect you might have COVID, your doctor or a provider at an urgent care facility will give you the orders. Many insurance plans also cover testing ordered and performed by a pharmacist as well. Check your insurance provider’s website for details of COVID-19 coverage for your specific plan.
