Check out the 2021 Colors of the Year!

We’re all ready to move forward this year, and for many of us, that means redesigning our homes. We covered overall home trends that’ll be a hit in 2021, but what about color? The experts have made their picks on the next “it” paint colors, and the newest trends exhibit traits that are much-needed after the rollercoaster of 2020. Read on to learn more about the 2021 picks for Color of the Year and how to use them in your home.

Pantone: Illuminating and Ultimate Gray

Pantone was so in love with these colors that they couldn’t choose between the two. Ultimate Gray is a timeless, classic gray, and one’s spirits can’t help but be lifted by Illuminating’s cheery yellow hue. The colors work well together in representing hope, resilience, and strength during difficult times, making this color combination one we can definitely get behind.

Benjamin Moore: Aegean Teal

This beautiful mid-tone blend of blue-green and grey reminds us of the waves at the beach, gently lapping over our toes. Because of its association with beachy vibes, it pairs perfectly with tans, nautical themes, and soft whites and yellows. Even as a standalone color, though, its balanced hue is incredibly relaxing.

Sherwin-Williams: Urbane Bronze

Is it deep gray or a woodsy brown? Well, it sort of depends on the light. This color can warm up a bright room or add neutral depth to a darker one. Urbane Bronze is incredibly versatile. Add natural woods and metals and green, leafy houseplants to the room to create an “organic” oasis, or accessorize your room with fluffy blankets and rugs and colorize with warm pastels to transform your space into a very “hygge” paradise. When paired with tans and grays, Urbane Bronze can even help modernize your home’s appearance.

HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams: Passionate

Part of a larger collection called “Delightfully Daring,” Passionate’s bold Merlot color certainly adds flair and personality to a space. Far from gaudy, Passionate looks best when matched with shades of white and organic elements like wood.

Bonus: Glidden’s Accent Color of the Year: Aqua Fiesta

Rather than select a Color of the Year, this time Glidden chose an Accent Color of the Year. Aqua Fiesta is a gorgeous green-blue that sends unquestionably beachy vibes. Rather than using it on all four walls, consider using this one on wainscoting or on a piece of treasured accent furniture, like a chest. In order to pop, Aqua Fiesta is best used with neutral tones – especially tan and white.
